The development of the steerable reserve-system XS400 HELP was a major step in the progress of paragliding safety. If deployed the pilot always retains control. Incident free contolled reserve landings need no longer be 'spot' luck. The safety and reliability of the XS-range has been proven in safety clinics and in practice.

The problem:

Through development safety-systems have reached a high standard of performance. One problem though, remained unsolved: The ability of the pilot to influence the direction of his descent to a safe landing area. Reserve deployment over cities or obstacles, in the Alps or near flowing waters are always a great risk.

The solution: The PRO-DESIGN XS 400

The PRO-DESIGN XS400 HELP combines modern round parachute technology with full maneuverability. The most important advantage: The pilot can benefit from the ability to steer but not necessarily has to. Without steering, the XS400 HELP works like conventional reserve system. This is considerably important at deployments in low altitudes, with only time allowing full concentration for imminent landing. Oscillation with the main canopy inflated is reduced and a low sink rate is attained.
Deployment at sufficient altitudes allows enough time to deflate the main canopy and the pilot may give the required control input without strong pendulum. Another option is to cut away after reserve inflation by using specially designed carabiners or simply using a cut-knife, thereby further improving performance. Directional control is concise and no roll is induced as a result of steering input.

With a glide ratio of approximately 1 you will be able to:

• Negotiate tricky landings in tight areas giving way to obstacles such as power lines, cable car lines, cliffs, houses, water etc.
• Avoid drifting in strong winds
• Land into wind
