Maintenance and care

Tips for maintenance and care of PRO-DESIGN gliders and equipment
To enjoy our high quality products for a long period of time, they need a minimum of care.
On this page we give you practical advice on how to maintain your equipment.

Paragliders

Keep your paraglider dry and store indoors. Protect your paraglider from humidity and sun. UV-rays lead to loss of strength and damage the fabric. Dry a humid or wet paraglider on a shady place in fresh air.
CAUTION! - Above all, the worst thing you can do to harm your glider is to store it humid or wet. Humidity (especially when packed airtight) starts a chemical reaction which weakens the connection between the Nylon fabric and the coating. In consequence the cloth gets soft and delamination of the coating occurs. The fabrics gets porous in a very short time! If you take care of this matter, you most probably will never get problems with porosity, even not after hundreds of flights!
Do not expose your paraglider to a temperature of more than 50 degrees Celsius (car!!). Such high temperatures could soften the lines and as a consequence they could shrink and/or lose their strength. This can be checked by remeasuring and load test only!
Clean the canopy with warm water only or soft soap water. Do not use solvents or detergents!

Harnesses

Always store the harness indoors at room temperature in a dry place. It has to be checked regularly for damages. If your harness is damaged, immediately send to PRO-DESIGN, as repairs are only to be made by the manufacturer! It is also recommended to send over the harness to PRO-DESIGN every two years for a check. Clean the harness only with water or a mild solvent. Never use detergents!

Rescue systems

In order to guarantee a continuous operation, there is need of some maintenance and care. To store the reserve system you should avoid extreme temperatures. Protect it from humidity and wetness. It is imperative to dry up and repack a humid or wet reserve.
Protect the reserve and components from UV-rays, as these weaken the strength of the materials. Dirty parts only to be cleaned with fresh water or a mild solvent. Before packing, look for a clean and smooth place to lay out and take care not to pack dirt and any other parts with the canopy, as these may damage the fabric and may negatively interfere the operation.
After a deployment under load, the reserve system has to be checked by the manufacturer. Take special care about wear points, such as main bridle(s). An exchange of these upon even smallest damage is strongly recommended. Repairs best made by the manufacturer!
It is recommended to re-pack and check the reserve every 4 months. If these intervals are not regarded there may be a delay in opening if the reserve is deployed.
